Following a number of residents writing into me about Bagnall Road being closed again, I went to have a look last night and to speak with the workers onsite.
They told me that the new cable installed by Western Power Distribution wasn't tested at the time of installation and was then discovered to be faulty after the works were completed. The workers on site have been sent in by WPD to dig a section of the road up and pump water out due to a stream at the top of the road so that a repair can be made to a section of the new 132kV cable.
Once the repair is made by WPD, they will then fill in the section of road and be able to reopen the road once again. They estimate all the work to take 4 days in total.
