I spoke in the debate on the Local Government (Disqualification) Bill and raised my views that I do think we need to reflect on the fact that people in public office need to have experience and sometimes that experience may be in areas where they need to advise people of past mistakes.
I believe in redemption and I have dealt a lot with issues around county lines and there is nothing more powerful than somebody that has been involved as a victim, but nonetheless convicted because they were at a very young age, involved in something that they really had very little choice over and the thought a person in their later life might be disqualified from actually serving in public office, I think is wrong.
