I have recently spoken to constituents in Abbey Hulton who are very angry about the recent cuts to the Number 5 bus service from Abbey Hulton to Hanley City Centre and how it now leaves them without reliable access to local buses, which they rely on to travel around Stoke-on-Trent. I believe the people of Stoke-on-Trent deserve affordable, efficient public transport seven days a week.
I have therefore written to First Bus, Scragg's, and D&G and asked them to inform me why cuts to the service were made and to provide details of any impact assessment or consultation carried out.
I will be hosting a community meeting in Abbey Hulton for local residents to raise with me the issues they are having with the Number 5 Bus Service on Saturday 25th June from 10am till 11am at St John's Church, Greasley Road, Abbey Hulton, Stoke-on-Trent, ST2 8JD and I have requested a representative from First Bus, Scraggs Coaches, and D&G to attend the meeting to answer residents’ questions about the bus service.
