The past year has been difficult for all of us, but a number of dedicated charities and other organisations are available to offer help for those in need within the Constituency. Below is a list of local organisations who may be able to offer assistance as well as a brief description of the work they do:
- Alice Charity supports disadvantaged and vulnerable families in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme. They are able to help provide emergency food supplies, educational support such as school uniforms and equipment, and items for new parents. They can be reached on 01782 627 017 or [email protected]
- The Macari Foundation runs a shelter for the homeless in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent which provides emergency shelter and safe, short term accommodation for persons in need of support. Its vision and objective is to provide such an environment and meaningful activities which will help reverse the spiral of homelessness. They can be reached on 07500 771 682
- The Hope Community Church runs a foodbank for those in need on Tuesday mornings. More information is available on their website. They can be reached on 01782 367447 or [email protected]
- Asha provides a range of services for refugees and asylum seekers including clothing, food support, and English classes. They are based in Hanley, but are active across North Staffordshire. They can be reached on 01782 36312 or [email protected]
- Mind is a national mental health support and awareness charity. Its North Staffordshire branch is based in Hanley, and it offers a range of services including BACP-accredited counselling. They can be reached on 01782 262100 or [email protected]
- The Hubb Foundation offers a city-wide food parcel delivery service for those in need. They can be reached on 01782 664000 or [email protected]
- YMCA North Staffordshire provides a range of services including accommodation for those in need, a community campus with leisure facilities, employment and skills advice, training and educational opportunities, volunteering, and a platform to disseminate policy and research. - Saltbox provides a range of services for vulnerable adults such as debt relief and benefits advice, and is driven by its Christian ethos. They can be reached on 01782 815 879 or [email protected]
- Staffordshire North & Stoke-on-Trent Citizens Advice gives people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem. Their services are free and confidential, and offered in a COVID-secure manner. This includes advice on housing and personal finance.
