Pleased to see that my embroidery has been quilted onto the Parliament Coronavirus Memorial Quilt. My design reflects a very special experience & memory, the square represents the Zoom event I had with my children & grandchildren on Easter 2020.
We had been due to go on holiday together & instead, like so many others, were locked down in our separate households. We wanted to do something special together on Good Friday, & decided to do a bake-off on Zoom.
I didn't have any cake tins in my flat, so I used a tray bake, cut out & iced an Easter bunny. The cake top left had a surprise filling of sweets. Top right a Victoria sponge & bottom left a chocolate cake with shards of chocolate on top.
We couldn't judge on taste, but had categories such as innovation & design. The purple lines represent the windows in Zoom, & the heart is the family bond which transcends pandemics & geography.
