Delighted to meet with Lord Bird, founder of The Big Issue. We agreed that we want a society where we look not to make the poor more comfortable, but to eradicate poverty.
The Conservative approach is to focus on creating more and better opportunities in every region across the United Kingdom, to invest in skills and lifelong learning and to create pathways out of poverty, while also supporting the most vulnerable.
I look forward to learning more about his Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill as it begins its passage in the House of Commons.
